Step 1 — Check your phone, before you buy
Two things, not one. Dial *#06#: if an EID number appears, your phone supports eSIM. It must also be carrier-unlocked, which is the more common reason installations fail. Phones bought in mainland China will not work. Send us your model and we will confirm.
Step 2 — Install at home, on WiFi
Do this before you fly. Installing needs an internet connection, and airport WiFi is slow and unreliable. Your QR code arrives by email after purchase.
iPhone: Settings → Mobile Service → Add eSIM → Use QR CodeAndroid: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM
You cannot scan the code on the same phone you are installing to. Use a printout or a second screen. Label the line "Vietnam" so you can find it later.
Step 3 — On arrival
Turn off flight mode, then:
•Set the Viettel line as your mobile data line
•Turn data roaming ON for the Viettel line. This sounds wrong but is required
•Keep your home SIM for calls, with data roaming OFF on that line
•Wait one or two minutes to register
If it does not connect
Toggle flight mode. Restart the phone. Check that data roaming is on for the Viettel line and that it is selected for mobile data. Still stuck? WhatsApp us, 24/7.
Important
•Do not delete the eSIM. Once removed it cannot be reinstalled and no replacement is issued
•Install the QR code within 180 days of purchase
•Full refund any time before the code is scanned. Once scanned it cannot be refunded, so check your phone first
